Tips for cursive tattoo lettering
- Thin connecting strokes can soften over the years; scripts with fine hairlines need to be large enough to stay readable, so ask your artist about the minimum size for the placement.
- Check every letter in a mirror before the stencil goes on: cursive r, s and z are easy to misread.
- Names with capitals that don't join (such as O or S in traditional cursive) leave a small gap after the first letter. That is correct handwriting, not a mistake.
- Use the outline SVG as a stencil guide; your artist will redraw it to suit your skin and the placement.
Questions
Can I use these cursive fonts for a tattoo?
Yes. The fonts are released under the SIL Open Font License, which allows any use of the images you make with them.
What is the stencil outline?
It draws only the outer edge of each letter, the way stencils are transferred. Download it as an SVG to print at any size without blur.
